FreeNotes keeps note-taking simple. Here's the whole flow, start to finish.
Sign up with your name, email, and a password. That's it — no verification hoops, no credit card.
From your dashboard, create a new note. Give it a title and write away. The editor supports rich formatting: headings, bold/italic/underline, bullet and numbered lists, quotes, code blocks, and links.
Notes save on demand with the Save button (or Ctrl/Cmd+S) — the editor shows the last saved time so you always know where you stand.
Every note starts private: only you can see it. To share one, open it in the editor and click Make public. You'll get a short link like https://your-site.com/n/AbC123xY that anyone can open — no account needed on their end.
Public notes can be locked with a password. Readers see a password prompt instead of the note, and unlock it in their browser. After too many wrong attempts, they're temporarily rate-limited. You can set or remove the password any time from the editor's sharing section.

Switch between the card grid and a compact list view with the toggle at the top — your preference is remembered.
Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, sessions are protected against common web attacks, and shared note content is filtered before display. That said, no online service is perfect — please don't store confidential, sensitive, financial, or personal information in FreeNotes. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
